In a statement sent to the Global Times on Monday, Lenovo said it updated its product lineup during the event, releasing innovative products such as the new ThinkPad X1 Fold folding screen notebook and Yoga smart glasses.
Huawei also showcased its Nova 10 smartphone series, but US sanctions have severely reduced smartphone sales in the European market.
As observed by the Global Times, Chinese home appliances are getting the most attention, with the focus on the latest technological concepts and cutting-edge products such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality and LED.
Many Chinese SMEs also exhibited various small home appliances, electronic accessories and other products.
“It’s good to be at the exhibition. We have signed many orders, some of which are regular customers from Europe and elsewhere. Everyone is happy to meet again.” said an exhibitor from Shenzhen in southern China’s Guangdong province on Sunday.
Chinese home appliance manufacturers have achieved independence in key technologies such as displays, chips, intelligent interconnection and storage technology, and are no longer dependent on foreign technology. This will help Chinese home appliances enter international markets unimpeded despite US sanctions, industry observers of the event told the Global Times on Monday.
“The return of Chinese companies to the exhibition is a good sign for the industry as a whole,” a German exhibitor told the Global Times on the sidelines of Monday’s event.
The growing presence of Chinese companies at shows comes as many scale back from similar shows in America, such as the US Consumer Electronics Show (CES), due to Washington’s reckless crackdown.
Top Chinese companies that attended CES, the world’s largest consumer goods show, were absent from the event last year, including Huawei, DJI and ZTE.
As one of Europe’s biggest tech shows, the German tech fair IFA 2022 opens to the public in Berlin on September 2nd and runs through Tuesday.
