White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia –– More than 1,000 business, health, education and political leaders will gather in Greenbrier County this week to discuss investment opportunities in Mountain State.
Hosted by the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the 86th Annual Meeting and Business Summit will be held Wednesday through Friday at The Greenbrier.
President Steve Roberts told MetroNews that many economic development announcements will be made during the three-day event. This follows the move by Nucor Steel in Mason County and GreenPower Motor in Kanawha County. GreenPower opened a new facility in South Charleston on Tuesday.
“We are also hearing from other companies looking to announce they will be coming to West Virginia. ” Roberts said on Tuesday.
The event kicks off with the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Annual Board Meeting on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Gov. Jim Justice will deliver opening remarks at the start of the summit at 12:15 p.m. after lunch.

At 12:30 p.m., the first session will address the state’s new medical solutions, with remarks from Albert Wright, WVU School of Medicine President and CEO, and Dr. Bobby Miller, Interim Dean of Marshall University’s Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. focus.
Roberts said a good job could solve many problems related to the opioid epidemic.
“West Virginia areas with the highest employment rates and incomes have the lowest drug use and the lowest amount of medical problems,” he said.

Roberts said the state has learned over the past few years that making West Virginia more business-friendly is key to building more businesses here. He said the summit’s goal is to maintain that momentum.
