Just one week after the football team’s first game against Illinois, news of recruiting for the Wisconsin football team and men’s basketball team is still circulating.
Basketball teams continue to build ties with some of the overall higher goals, while soccer teams rate the film on ongoing high school soccer across the country.
To give you an overview of everything that happened in the last 7 days, here are our weekly recruiting summaries.
Basketball: 2023 Player Rankings Update
According to 247 Sports, Greg Gard and Badgers have two commitments in the 2023 Recruit class, each making the top 200 prospects.
The National Recruitment Service released ranking updates on Monday, and both Gus Yarden and John Blackwell were well placed after the update.
Yalden is the headline for the Wisconsin class. The 6-foot-9 forward has put together a big summer, with the result that consensus sees him as a four-star prospect. 247 is the 93rd player and 13th center in the nation for his stats.
Blackwell was a little-known player when he joined UW, but continues to develop into a three-star high prospect in 2023. 25 combo guards in class. His versatility and length make him an intriguing player and an athlete whose stock can continue to rise on the trail.
Overall, Wisconsin’s 2023 signing class is currently the 23rd class, with room to grow if it gets another player. A notable name continues to be Nolan Winter, who recently made an official visit to Madison. He has an upcoming Minnesota official, and the two are fighting over his office. Winter said he is the 175th-ranked player in the country according to 247 Sports and could choose between Wisconsin and Minnesota in the coming months. Another one of his names to know is Bubu his Benjamin, who is scheduled to make an official visit with the badgers in late September. He remains unranked after the update and is a potential backup plan should Winter choose elsewhere.
The Wisconsin Badgers extended a new scholarship offer Tuesday for four-star Texas cornerback Xavier Philsime of McKinney, Texas.
A talented explosive athlete who played both ways at McKinney High School, Filsaime is one of Texas’ top grade-level players. Badgers is one of his 19 schools that have made offers to Filsaime, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds.
A track star with additional interest from some of the country’s top schools, it will be interesting to see how much of a threat Wisconsin poses to Phil Syme’s recruitment.

Wisconsin’s offensive coordinator Bobby Engram is still looking for a quarterback in the 2023 recruiting class, but he’s confident the team can get a QB this cycle.
according to Rival Network’s John McNamarathe Badgers have three 2023 quarterbacks who will be visiting campus next month.
Below are three players who will be hitting campus in the coming weeks.

- Ryan Brown Milford Academy (New York)
Brown is a 6’5″ signal caller from the Northeast with offers from Kent, Toledo and western Michigan. In addition to the Badgers, Brown has also attracted interest from Florida State after previously playing a junior season there and helping lead the team to a state championship.
Brown threw for over 2,600 yards and 31 touchdowns with a 60% hit rate by Venice High School’s MaxPreps in 2021.

- Cole Lacleux Bloomfield, Colorado
Another quarterback coming to campus is Colorado quarterback Cole LaClue. With a 6-foot-2 build, he LaCrue currently has scholarships from Central Michigan, Northern Colorado, and South Dakota. He made an official visit to central Michigan in his June and has attracted the interest of other his Power-5s, mainly from the West. A dual-threat option, he LaCrue is a player to watch if Badgers makes an offer.
According to Prep Redzone, LaCrue threw for just under 2,800 yards and added 710 yards in rushing last season for a total of 38 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

- Jerry Kaminsky Sun Prairie (Wisconsin)
The Badgers are also set to host Sun Prairie quarterback Jerry Kaminski in September, despite commitments to North Dakota. Also at 6-foot-2, Kaminski has been a frequent visitor over the past two seasons and is on Wisconsin’s radar as a walk-on or scholarship option in 2023.
Kaminski returned to North Dakota in late June and threw for 2,559 yards and 30 touchdowns a year earlier at Sun Prairie, according to WisSports.
