A senior Nevada Democratic official has been accused of murdering a Las Vegas journalist who allegedly exposed his cheating and received a $130,000 salary for months despite evidence against him. It became clear that it could continue.
Clark County public administrator Robert Telles was arrested Wednesday, five days after Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Jeff Germann was fatally injured outside his home.
Online court records show Terrace, 45, is being held without bail and charged with murder using a lethal weapon.
City officials say that despite the murder charges, Terrace will remain in his elected office and continue to receive a six-figure salary until another is elected.
“For now, he’s still an elected official and will still get his paycheck while he’s in prison,” Democratic Clark County Commissioner Tick Seegerblom told WSAV on Friday.
The 69-year-old German had reported months of complaints that Telles had inappropriate relationships with subordinates and oversaw an abusive workplace, describing it as a “disruption”. Terrace has denied the accusations.
The journalist was found dead on September 3, and sources told KLAS that Telles’ DNA was found under German’s fingernails.

Democratic Clark County Commissioner Tick Seegerblom said on Friday that despite the murder charges against Rob Terrace, Terrace will remain in his elected office and will receive his salary for several months.
