Indeed, if we tried to suggest that “the science of tobacco’s dangerous effects is unresolved” or that “cancer is a natural condition that is largely unaffected,” we would shout foul and denounce the tobacco industry’s vested interests. Immediately recognizes the right to “by chemicals in tobacco smoke” or “too expensive to try to control exposure to tobacco smoking/passive smoke in public places”. As the world struggles to implement equitable agreements on climate change policy, climate science-informed citizens, not just educated leaders, implement policies and practices to prevent climate catastrophes. The author’s exposure report documents how Texas’ scientific standards were compromised and affected by big oil.
Pennsylvania does not directly use these Texas educational standards, but because Texas is the second largest purchaser of textbooks in the United States, textbook publishers are bound by Texas educational standards in their publications. I am in need of approval. Understanding the impact of Texas standards is important, but how does this happen? Again, how can the oil industry have this enormous impact on climate science education standards? See Worth’s article/book for a more detailed analysis of how it worked. Simply put, they cram “volunteer” writing boards with oil company employees and retirees, removing meaningful criteria that work toward understanding climate change science from all levels of education. It means that you did your best. The authors provide numerous concrete examples of how state climate science standards have been diluted by these efforts.
Education and global cooperation are the keys to solving most of the world’s problems. The United Nations established the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), under which global representatives come together to tackle the climate crisis. The main forum for negotiations is called the Conference of the Parties (COP). I will travel to COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt to provide information to students and contribute articles directly to the York Daily Record. Process observer. Just as 40 years ago the public accused tobacco companies of trying to redirect and sabotage smoking policy, we should turn to science education professionals, not oil companies, to provide critical climate solutions for students. We must demand the development of a framework for science education. We need to equip this and the next generation with accurate, fact-based climate science education resources to equip them with climate science knowledge.
