The Steelers took outside backer TJ Watt off the injured list on Saturday, clearing the way for him to return for a visit from New Orleans on Sunday.
Watt, the 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, hasn’t played since suffering a left chest injury in Week 1 against Cincinnati. He underwent minor knee surgery during his stay at the IR, but returned to practice two weeks ago.
The Steelers (2-6) struggled without Watts, dropping six of seven without three All-Pros and only eight sacks. Pittsburgh had seven sacks against the Bengals with Watt in the lineup.
Pittsburgh ruled out safety Minka Fitzpatrick in the game (3-6) against the Saints due to an appendix issue.
