Honestly, the sooner you do this the better. From 80 he cuts to 53. Word began leaking as early as Sunday afternoon that the team should start cutting because the league’s deadline is Tuesday afternoon. There are no particularly notable figures in the cutting block yet, but that could change quickly.

If this were another position, I’d take the risk and try to cut Greer and move him to the practice team. With backups at stake, we can’t be sure of Rush’s status, but Grier has a third roster spot in the game’s most important position. enough to warrant it.

The Cowboys intend to keep Michael Gallup on their active roster until he is healthy. Dennis Houston and Brandon Smith both had great preseasons, but I’m not convinced they did enough to deserve the 53 spot. Space would open up when moved to the injured list. There should be room to add someone after the first cut if the Cowboys want it.

All the stars are in Indiana’s undrafted rookie Peyton Hendershott. Not only did he have a great night against Seattle on Friday, Jeremy Sprinkle was discharged last week and Sean McKeon is currently dealing with a knee injury. With Hendershot grabbing the last spot at the buzzer, I think the Cowboys will go lighter here.

The Cowboys are a draft and development team, so they trained their brains to lean toward draft picks. The veteran end has had a strong month and given DeMarcus Lawrence’s injury history, he’s better insured. Deep down, Ridgeway could be signed to the practice squad.

It’s a similar situation to the defensive tackle dilemma. Devin Harper is a rookie draft pick and the front office likes to give them a chance to catch up, so I’ve had Devin Harper on this depth chart all along. In other words, the veteran Gifford has had a strong preseason and is a go-to special teamer. Neither decision comes as a surprise to me, but I suspect they lean towards experience.

This feels surprisingly easy — at least to me. The Cowboys have him three solid starters in the corner and one impressive rookie for the brand. Joseph and Wright had a tumultuous month, but they were last year’s top 100 draft picks, so it feels like a safe bet. and Bell both played too good to cut, 11 being a big number but justified in this case.

Having this very young talent on the roster will help you get creative. McQuaid is a vested veteran, free to act upon his release. The young player is exposed to league waivers on his wire and could be poached by his rival club. With his release on Tuesday, McQuaid will act as a placeholder, allowing teams to free up roster spots without the risk of losing their favorite young players. Once such an injured person is moved to the IR, McQuaid can re-sign and report back to practice as if nothing happened.
