CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 7, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The world’s leading experts in open and distance learning will come together to discuss the impact of the pandemic on teaching and learning. The 10th Annual Pan-Federal Forum on Open Learning will take place September 14-16, 2022 in Calgary.
The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) partners with universities around the world to host this triennial conference. This year, COL will partner with Athabasca University (AU) to host the conference for the first time in North America. AU, Canada’s Open University, is a research-intensive university based in Alberta, Canada.
Innovation for educational resilience
Held every three years, the forum is considered one of the world’s leading international conferences on open, distance, and technology-enabled education. The theme of this year’s conference is Innovation for educational resilience, addressing the problem of learning loss due to school closures and the lack of access to technology for teaching and learning. This reflects the significant impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on education and training. This is a topic many AU researchers have focused on over the past few years.
“The need for open education around the world and the need to incorporate accessible and innovative technologies, to promote equity and inclusion for all, and to support the sustainability and resilience of education systems. There has never been a more important time to come together to discuss the need for the AU,” said AU President Dr Peter Scott.

For the first time, PCF10 will be offered as a hybrid event, with the option to attend in person or virtually. Over 400 direct delegates have already registered and the number of virtual participants is growing by the day.
